December the 16th is, in my opinion, one of the most auspicious days of the year; without it, my life would be immeasurably poorer. The reason it’s such a happy day is because it’s the birthday of three (three!) of my favourite people. I know it’s not the done thing to choose favourites but let’s face it, we all do, right? And the favouritest of them all, is the one beginning with F. Also, the word “favourite” is beginning to look as if I spelt it wrong so I’ll stop using it now. Also, it would be weird if the month of December went straight from the 15th to the 17th, don’t you think?

Remember how I said I had a few surprises up my sleeve? Well, if you’re anything like me, there are some bloggers you just can’t get enough of and so I’m doing a small series of posts, perhaps twice a month, with an interview and a dish from some who’ll need no introduction and have kindly indulged my curiosity. I hope I asked the right questions – they were the things I always want to know – and that you enjoy them too.
It’s hard to say exactly what it is that makes Luisa so beloved of her readers. It might be her slightly self-deprecating air or her delicate turn of phrase but I suspect her appeal has more than a little to do with how honest she is – she allows just a little melancholy to throw shade on her post if that’s how she’s feeling that day. It’s no mean feat; blogging is so personal that it’s a fine line to walk between over-sharing and seeming distant but she always hits the high notes while remaining a lady.

Once my great aunt (who incidentally is otherwise a lovely person) made me eat a piece of raw zucchini when as a child I insisted I didn’t like it. It did nothing to endear said vegetable to me further and though I never went as far as to pick them out of things on the rare occasions on which they were served to me, I didn’t ever really grow to love them.
